After the addition of 32 new cities in 2025, including Raipur, Siliguri, Jodhpur, and Thanjavur, fulfilling the growing demand for instant deliveries outside metro areas, the service of the leading quick commerce platform in India, Swiggy Instamart, has now extended ultra-fast 10-minute delivery to 100 cities nationwide.
Millions of new consumers can now access over 30,000 products, including groceries, daily essentials, electronics, fashion, beauty products, toys, and more; all delivered in just 10 minutes. The demand for quick commerce in smaller towns seems to be taking a steep rise, as pointed out by Amitesh Jha, the CEO of Swiggy Instamart.
"In the past year, millions of Indians have come to depend on Swiggy Instamart for everything from their groceries to their festive essentials. Shopping behavior in tier 2 and 3 cities has expedited rather fast, hence bringing convenience-led retail into strong traction beyond the metros."
The dark store network of Swiggy Instamart is getting expanded using 'megapods' that serve as huge fulfillment centers, ideally sized between 10,000-12,000 square feet. The megapods can stock over 50,000 SKUs, which means customers will have access to nearly thrice the product range available in a regular dark store.
Localization still takes precedence with products being made available based on regional tastes; for example, someone living in Patna can order Sudha Milk and Maharaja Bread while Vachan dairy products and Bake'O'Fun bakery items are available for those in Raipur.
Swiggy Instamart expansion has induced certain surprising consumer trends; the highest single-day spend was recorded in Thiruvananthapuram at ₹69,993, and a spending record was created by a Dehradun user at ₹3,34,411. The most ordered categories were Fruits & Vegetables, Munchies & Snacks, and Dairy, Bread & Eggs. Onions, tomatoes, and coriander took the place of the best-selling items.
Swiggy Instamart has changed the scenario for grocery and essentials delivery in India since it launched in August 2020. They now operate in 100 cities, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated fleet of delivery personnel, and keep setting new standards.
