Fourteen-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi sent shockwaves through Indian cricket on Wednesday, smashing a breathtaking 190 off just 84 balls to propel Bihar to a record-shattering 574/6 in a List A match against Arunachal Pradesh. The colossal total is now the highest ever recorded by a team in a single List A innings, eclipsing Tamil Nadu’s 506/2 set in 2022.
Suryavanshi’s innings was the heartbeat of Bihar’s assault. Opening the batting, he unleashed fearless strokeplay from the outset, racing to a century in only 36 balls the second-fastest by an Indian in List A cricket. By the time he was dismissed, after striking 15 towering sixes, Bihar had already surged past 260 runs inside 27 overs.
In the process, Suryavanshi rewrote history books. He became the youngest player ever to score a List A century and broke AB de Villiers’ long-standing record for the fastest 150 in the format. His performance underlined why he is increasingly being viewed as one of India’s most exciting young talents.
The onslaught did not end with Suryavanshi’s departure. Wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Loharuka kept the momentum alive with a blistering 116 off 56 balls, accelerating sharply after reaching his half-century. He found able support from Piyush Kumar Singh, who chipped in with a quick 77.
Later in the innings, Sakibul Gani delivered another stunning cameo, smashing a century in just 32 balls the fastest by an Indian in List A cricket surpassing Anmolpreet Singh’s previous record. Alongside Bipin Saurabh, Gani ensured Bihar crossed the 500-run mark in the 46th over.
Every bowler Arunachal Pradesh tried was met with relentless aggression, as boundaries flowed to all parts of the ground. When the innings finally closed at 574/6, Bihar had not only won the match but also etched their name permanently into cricketing history.
