Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the Rajya Sabha on the working of the Ministry of Home Affairs, declared that terrorism, Naxalism, and insurgency are nearing their end under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He said coordinated action, strong political will, and advanced technology have reshaped India’s internal security over the past decade.
Shah stated that by March 2026, India will be free from Left Wing Extremism, crediting sustained operations, intelligence-based strikes, and rapid development in affected areas. He highlighted that violent incidents have fallen by more than half, with major Naxal strongholds reduced to just 12 districts. Over 300 new security camps and hundreds of kilometers of roads and communication networks have been built to strengthen local governance and connectivity.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said separatism rooted in Article 370 has ended, leading to stability and large-scale development. He pointed to a dramatic decline in terror incidents and stone-pelting, increased investments, new medical and educational institutions, and record tourism numbers. He claimed that security forces’ casualties have dropped by 50 percent and that normalcy has returned to the region.
On the Northeast, Shah said insurgency has fallen sharply, with several armed groups signing peace accords since 2019. Over 10,000 militants have surrendered, and economic development is accelerating with new infrastructure, industries, and connectivity projects.
Shah also noted that the National Investigation Agency achieved a 95 percent conviction rate and that a fully indigenous anti-drone system will be introduced within six months. He emphasized that the government will not tolerate terrorism, drug money, or corruption disguised under political narratives, asserting that national security remains the top priority.
