Prabhas-starrer maintains strong box office run as fan frenzy keeps the buzz alive.
Prabhas’s horror-comedy The Raja Saab continues its steady march at the domestic box office, inching close to the ₹140 crore mark despite witnessing a slight slowdown on Day 10. Directed by Maruthi, the film collected ₹2.5 crore on its second Sunday, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹139.25 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
While weekends typically boost collections, the film saw a marginal dip compared to earlier days. On January 18, overall Telugu occupancy stood at 28.37%. Morning shows recorded 20.03%, while afternoon shows picked up pace at 34.72%. Evening shows performed slightly better with 35.33% occupancy, before night shows dipped again to 23.41%. The numbers indicate consistent footfall, even as the initial rush begins to stabilise.
Released on January 9, The Raja Saab hit theatres in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, supported by special fan preview shows across several cities. These previews generated massive online attention, not just for the film but also for an unusual fan trend. Viral videos showed fans entering cinema halls carrying dummy crocodiles, recreating a popular scene from the trailer where Prabhas is seen battling a crocodile. The quirky celebrations added to the pre-release buzz and highlighted the actor’s strong fan base.
The film follows the story of a man searching for his missing grandfather, only to encounter a sinister presence inside a mysterious mansion. Blending horror with humour, the narrative leans on atmosphere, comedy and star power.
The Raja Saab also marks the Telugu debut of Malavika Mohanan and features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab in key roles. The project is jointly produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment.
Despite the Day 10 dip, the film’s overall performance remains solid, with trade experts watching closely to see whether it crosses the ₹140 crore milestone in the coming days.
