Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that three more outfits in Jammu and Kashmir have cut their links with the Hurriyat Conference, a separatist conglomerate. The three groups include Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front. This move indicates a turning point in Jammu and Kashmir's political environment, with a total of 11 groups having broken their connections with separatism since recent months.
Shah referred to this step as a reflection of increasing faith in the Constitution of India in the Valley.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an empowered and united India is furthered through these developments. The decision was announced during Shah's three-day trip to Jammu and Kashmir, where he is also inspecting major developmental projects.
This move away from separatism comes after the Home Ministry banned two major separatist groups, the Awami Action Committee and Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen, for five years on charges of anti-national activities.
The government considers these moves a huge success in its campaign to integrate Jammu and Kashmir and bring back permanent peace to the state.
