In a swift operation in Delhi’s Ghazipur area, police arrested two criminals following an encounter on Thursday, officials confirmed. During the confrontation, both accused sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and were immediately taken for medical treatment, the Delhi Police said. Further details regarding the charges against them are yet to be released.
According to authorities, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb violent crime in the capital. Police teams acted decisively to prevent potential threats, successfully apprehending the suspects without any casualties among the officers.
This incident follows a similar encounter on Tuesday in Dwarka, where two individuals allegedly involved in the Aya Nagar shooting were arrested. During that operation, both accused were shot in the legs. Police narrowly escaped injury when a bullet struck one officer’s bulletproof jacket. Investigators also recovered two sophisticated firearms and live ammunition at the scene.
The Aya Nagar shooting case, which triggered heightened police vigilance, involved the murder of local resident Ratan Lal on November 30, when 69 bullets were reportedly fired at him.
In a separate tragedy, Delhi Police reported a shocking family murder in Laxmi Nagar. Yashveer Singh, 25, allegedly killed his mother, sister, and younger brother due to financial stress. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Dhania, Singh administered a poisonous substance to his family around 2 pm and later strangled them. The accused later confessed to the crime at Laxmi Nagar Police Station.
Delhi Police continue to investigate both criminal and domestic incidents, emphasizing public safety and the swift action of law enforcement in handling violent crimes.
