Police have arrested two persons in connection with the alleged “revenge killing” of a juvenile whose burnt body was recovered from a secluded area in northwest Delhi, officials said.
The charred remains of the minor were discovered earlier this week in an open ground, triggering shock and outrage in the locality. Following the recovery, teams from the local district police and forensic experts began an intensive investigation to establish identity, motive and sequence of events.
According to investigators, preliminary findings suggest the murder was carried out as an act of retaliation linked to a prior dispute. While officials have not disclosed full details due to the victim’s age and the ongoing probe, sources indicated that the accused and the juvenile were known to each other.
Deputy Commissioner of Police from the concerned district stated that technical surveillance, call data analysis and local intelligence inputs played a crucial role in tracing the suspects. Both accused were apprehended within days of the body being found and are currently being interrogated.
Police said efforts are underway to reconstruct the crime scene and determine whether others were involved. Forensic samples have been sent for examination to confirm identity and gather additional evidence. Authorities are also speaking with family members and acquaintances to piece together the background of the alleged dispute.
The case has raised concerns about rising violent crime involving minors in the national capital. Community members have demanded swift justice and enhanced policing in vulnerable neighbourhoods.
Officials have assured that the investigation is being conducted on priority and that strict action will be taken under relevant provisions of law. Further details are expected as the accused are produced before a court and remanded for custodial interrogation.
