UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday concluded a brief but high-impact three-hour visit to New Delhi, reaffirming the strong and expanding partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ways to deepen cooperation across economic, strategic and future-focused sectors.
In a post on X, Sheikh Mohamed said he was pleased with the discussions and highlighted the long-standing and historical ties between the two nations. He подчеркed that India and the UAE remain committed to fostering sustainable development and economic growth through close bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries and their people.
Prime Minister Modi described it as a pleasure to host the UAE President at his residence, calling him a “brother” and appreciating the gesture of his short visit to Delhi. The Prime Minister said the talks covered a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening the multifaceted India-UAE friendship.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar accompanied Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to the Delhi airport, marking the conclusion of the visit. The Ministry of External Affairs said the trip resulted in significant outcomes and further deepened the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Among the key developments was the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Government of Gujarat and the UAE Ministry of Investment for the development of the Dholera Special Investment Region. The project envisions major infrastructure initiatives, including an international airport, port, smart township, railway links and energy facilities.
Both sides also agreed to work towards a Strategic Defence Partnership Framework, expanding cooperation in defence technologies, cybersecurity and counter-terrorism. Additionally, India and the UAE reiterated their goal of doubling bilateral trade to over USD 200 billion by 2032, reinforcing their role as major economic and strategic partners amid shifting global geopolitics.
