In a shocking incident, an engineer allegedly killed his parents over a dispute regarding his interfaith marriage. Ambesh, 35, reportedly murdered his father, Shyam Bahadur (62), and mother, Babita (60), on December 8 after repeated arguments over his Muslim wife, whom his parents refused to accept.
The family tensions reportedly escalated when Ambesh needed Rs 5 lakh to pay alimony to his estranged wife. His father refused to provide financial help, leading to a violent confrontation. According to police, Ambesh struck his mother with a heavy grinding stone and then attacked his father, resulting in both their deaths.
In a gruesome attempt to cover up the crime, Ambesh dismembered their bodies using a saw, placed the parts in sacks, and disposed of them in a river. He then contacted his sister, Vandana, claiming their parents had left home after an argument, before switching off his phone for several days.
The case came to light when Vandana filed a missing person complaint on December 13, reporting her parents and brother missing. Police became suspicious after Ambesh’s phone remained unreachable and tracked him down a week later. Upon questioning, he confessed to the murders.
Authorities recovered parts of Shyam Bahadur’s body, along with the saw and the grinding stone used in the killings. Divers are currently searching the river for the remaining body parts.
This horrifying incident highlights the dangers of familial conflict, especially surrounding interfaith marriages, and the extreme consequences when disputes escalate unchecked. Police have confirmed Ambesh’s arrest and are investigating the full circumstances of the crime.
The community remains in shock as details emerge of the premeditated nature of the murders and the lengths taken to destroy evidence.
