The Indian captain reached the milestone with the last ball being a boundary, marking the feat with a total of seven boundaries. He did this in only 111 balls.
After getting off to a poor start, Shreyas Iyer aided Kohli very well with the bat, finishing on 50 in 63 balls. The two of them made sure that India was in complete control of the chase. The century also made Kohli the fastest to make 14000 ODI runs, well ahead of Sachin Tendulkar's record. He has done so in just 287 innings which speaks retired from international cricket a decade ago.
Pakistan finished their innings with 241 runs, thanks to the partnership of Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (46), who added 104 runs together. However, the damage was curtailed by the Indian bowlers, who were led by Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) and Hardik Pandya (2/31).
Currently, Pakistan's progress in the tournament depends on Bangladesh defeating New Zealand and Pakistan beating Bangladesh convincingly. On the other hand, India’s victory further claimed his reputation to be an undisputed champion, thanks to the superstar show from Kohli.
