Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the inaugural Ramoji Excellence Awards 2025 at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad on Monday. The ceremony, which coincided with the Foundation Day of the Ramoji Group and the birth anniversary of its founder Ramoji Rao, honoured achievers across seven categories.

Awards were presented to Amla Ashok Ruia for rural development, Srikant Bolla as youth icon, Prof Madhavi Latha Gali for science and technology, Akash Tandon for service to mankind, Prof Sathupati Prasanna Sree for art and culture, Jaideep Hardikar for journalism, and Pallabi Ghosh for woman achievers. In his address, the Vice President described it as an honour to take part in the first edition of the awards. He said Ramoji Rao was a visionary who “transformed ideas into institutions and dreams into enduring realities” and a nation builder who believed in the power of information, creativity and enterprise. He noted that Ramoji Rao’s initiatives, from Eenadu to Ramoji Film City and the ETV network, had reshaped Indian journalism and entertainment.

The Vice President said the Ramoji Excellence Awards were a fitting tribute to this legacy, acknowledging those who embody excellence and contribute to society. Reflecting on the role of the media, he described the press as central to maintaining an informed citizenry and stressed the importance of truthful and responsible journalism in an age of misinformation. He urged media organisations to support the national vision of Viksit Bharat at 2047 by highlighting stories of innovation, women’s empowerment, start ups and rural development. He also underlined the media’s role in promoting a drug free society and helping people distinguish between real and fake news, particularly at a time of rapid developments in artificial intelligence.

The Vice President congratulated the award recipients and said their achievements would inspire many others. The event was attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, the chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Union ministers, senior judges, film personalities and other dignitaries.
