Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey expressed strong views on Indian response regarding the Pakistan-Line of Control.  He said that while India's aim is to maintain peace, the Indian Army will not hesitate to take aggressive action in the face of provocation.  His statement clearly shows that India is uncompromising on border security, and will respond strongly to any threat.

Speaking at a military event, General Pandey said that India prefers diplomatic channels to maintain stability.  However, he also gave a clear message that India would respond sternly and appropriately to any provocation or violation across the border.  "We want to maintain peace, but we can also be aggressive if the situation arises," he said.

The statement comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan over the Line of Control are on the rise.  Ceasefire violations and infiltration along the border are frequent.  The Indian Army has strengthened surveillance, intelligence operations and preventive measures to counter these threats, so as to prevent terrorist activities.

The General mentioned that the army is always striving for national and military enhancement.  He stated that the process of modernization of the army is underway, including the induction of advanced weaponry and the development of infrastructures in border areas.  These will ensure that the army is capable of meeting any challenges that arise.

The Army Chief's well-publicized speech sends a wake-up call that India, though favoring peaceful coexistence, will not hesitate to retaliate with the force of fury to aggressors.
