After India’s World Cup triumph, excitement around the Women’s Premier League is at its peak. All five teams have already announced their retention lists but surprisingly, stars like Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh have not been retained. Their fate will be decided in New Delhi on November 27.

A total of 277 players are registered for next year’s mega WPL auction, but only 73 will be picked. Except for uncapped Shweta Sherawat, UP Warriorz have released all players for the auction. Along with Deepti, big names like Alyssa Healy, Alana King, Kranthi Goud, and Tahlia McGrath  all of whom performed well in the recent World Cup  are also in the pool.

Other major names awaiting their fate include New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine, Australia’s Meg Lanning, England’s Sophie Ecclestone, and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt.

Of the 194 Indian players entering the auction, 52 are capped, but there are only 50 slots available. For 83 overseas players, only 23 spots are open, including 66 capped players.

Players have been divided into five base-price categories.

₹50 lakh base price: 19 players including Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Amelia Kerr, Meg Lanning, Deepti Sharma, Harleen Deol, Uma Chetry, Heather Knight, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, Phoebe Litchfield, Prateek Rawal, Pooja Vastrakar, Georgia Wareham. ₹40 lakh: Renuka Singh, Shikha Pandey. ₹30 lakh: Laura Wolvaardt, Tajmin Brits, Sneh Rana, Shricharini, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Suzie Bates, Isabella Wong, Bengal’s Titas Sadhu, among others.
