The investigation into the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has taken a new turn. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has stepped in to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding his death. Following the arrest of his cousin and personal manager, two of Zubeen’s long-time security personnel, Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya, have also been taken into custody.

So far, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including his manager Siddharth Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprabha Mahanta, and the organizer of the North East India Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta. Zubeen’s cousin, Sandipan Garg, is currently in police custody for seven days.

The Assam government has indicated that it may seek the assistance of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough and transparent inquiry if the SIT report is unsatisfactory. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed this step.

Zubeen’s wife has expressed her feelings about the developments, noting that Zubeen had immense trust in his close ones and was always proud of them.

Both the Assam government and central authorities are working together to gather information from all relevant parties to ensure a complete and accurate investigation. This incident has created widespread concern and attention among music lovers and the general public alike.
