New Delhi, April 29
Croatia has expressed a keen interest in investing in India, particularly in the defence sector, as per a statement from the Commerce Ministry. This was deliberated upon during a recent meeting between Indian and Croatian officials to boost economic cooperation.
The negotiations were conducted at the 11th session of the India-Croatia Joint Economic Commission in New Delhi. The delegation from both nations negotiated possible ways to enhance trade, investment, and cooperation in different sectors. Defence industry was among the key sectors of interest for Croatia, but negotiations also covered shipbuilding, drugs, tourism, IT, and solar energy industries.
The Indian delegation was headed by Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal, and Croatia's was headed by its Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Andreja Metelko-Zgombić. Both delegations were in agreement that there is plenty of untapped potential in their economic relationship.
The officials also invited business communities from both nations to explore partnerships and joint ventures. They talked about lifting trade barriers and enhancing market access for goods from both nations.
The Commerce Ministry stated that it will enhance ties with Croatia so that India can enhance its presence in Europe and open new business opportunities for Croatian businesses in one of the fastest-growing economies of the world.
The session concluded on the two sides agreeing to maintain close cooperation and regular talks to foster bilateral investment and trade.
