HDFC Bank Q3 profit up 2.2%, gross NPA rises

The HDFC Bank on Wednesday reported a 2.2 per cent rise in its net profit for Q3 this fiscal, as its gross non-performing assets (NPA) ratio rose during the quarter.

For the December quarter, the bank's profit stood at Rs 16,736 crore, compared to Rs 16,373 crore in the same period last year.

Net interest income, or the bank's core income, rose nearly 8 per cent (year-on-year) to Rs 30,650 crore. 

Core net interest margin stood at 3.43 per cent for the bank and 3.62 per cent on an interest-earning asset basis.

In the September quarter, the respective figures were at 3.46 per cent and 3.65 per cent.

At the same time, HDFC Bank paid Rs 45,354 crore in interest for the quarter, which was a 7.7 per cent rise from Rs 42,111 crore in Q3 FY24.

HDFC bank also saw a spike in the interest earned by 7.6 percent. This also doubled its interest in far more significant ways for HDFC bank, which showed an increase of 7.6 percent. For the unversed, the bank posted Rs 76,007 crore in Q3 FY25, up from Rs 70,583 crore in the same quarter in 2023.
