The Indian Air Force (IAF) is celebrating 90 years of achievement with a band march and parade at Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, Punjab. In light with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives to extend significant events and celebrations outside of the National capital region to other areas of the country, this is the first year that the annual parade and fly-past have been held other than in Delhi-NCR.

The government has approved the establishment of a weapon system branch for the officers in the Indian Air Force, according to Chief of the Air Staff of India Vivek Ram Chaudhari, who addressed the IAF ceremony.

A new operational branch is being established for the first time since independence. The creation of this branch would save more than Rs 3,400 crore by lowering the cost of flying training. He stated that infrastructure development is progressing. We also intend to start the induction of women as Agniveers from next year, he said.

The morning parade and the air show are the two parts of the celebration schedule. Today, the programme was set to start at roughly 9:00 am with a 2-hour morning parade and a fly past. In the afternoon, as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, the IAF will put on a spectacular performance with a variety of aircraft during its air show.

Along with aerobatic display teams like the Suryakirans and the Sarang, aircraft like the Rafale, Tejas, Su-30, Mi-17, and Mirage will take part in the air show. At the celebration location, the recently inducted Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand is also made public. The Air Force Day fly past was held today at the Sukhna Lake Complex and featured close to 80 military planes and helicopters.
