Jammu:
The Indian Army on Monday strongly retaliated after Pakistani troops carried out unprovoked small arms firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The firing took place in a forward area, targeting Indian posts without any provocation.
According to defense sources, Pakistani forces started firing at Indian positions using small arms. The Indian Army responded immediately and effectively to silence the Pakistani guns. No loss of life or injury has been reported on the Indian side so far.
"The Indian Army gave a strong and appropriate reply. Our troops are fully alert and ready to deal with any situation," said an army spokesperson.
Such incidents of unprovoked firing by Pakistan are seen as attempts to disrupt peace along the border and divert attention from internal issues. This latest firing comes amid increased tension between the two countries due to diplomatic and political differences.
The Indian Army has been maintaining a strong presence along the LoC and continues to monitor all suspicious movements. Local civilians living in nearby villages were also alerted, although there was no major panic.
India has repeatedly urged Pakistan to maintain peace and follow the ceasefire agreement signed in February 2021. However, occasional violations continue to take place.
Officials say that any attempt to disturb peace will be met with a strong response.
Further monitoring is ongoing, and higher officials are in touch with ground troops to ensure complete security along the border.
