Bird Wealth key to Kashmir

Birds are important part of our nature. Birds make our biodiversity quite rich. In this age of rapid urbanization the birds are facing threat from diverse reasons. The first and foremost are the jungle of constructions and other projects in name of development hamper bird wealth.


In Kashmir too Birds have bore brunt of mad urbanization. Without doubt the birds are integral part of the environment. They provide balance to our planet earth. 


Birds have ecological value as important elements of natural systems. Birds provide insect and rodent control, plant pollination, and seed dispersal which result in tangible benefits to people. Insect outbreaks can annually destroy hundreds of millions of dollars of agricultural and forest products.


Kashmir has lot of quality bird wealth ' with bird wealth and they dawn the Wetlands of Kashmir. 


Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Brahminy Duck, Garganey, Greylag Goose, Mallard, Common Merganser, Northern Pintail, Common Pochard, Ferruginous Pochard, Red-Crested Pochard, Ruddy Shelduck, Northern Shoveler, Common Teal and Eurasian Wigeon are some of the most sighted birds in the wetlands of Kashmir.


It is heartning Among the varied birds and animals found in the region, the Kalij Pheasant was declared the state bird. This beautiful bird is also commonly known as the “wild cock” and is found in the forests and foothills of the Himalayas. 


As expert pulse is birds are a great source of food, provide fertilizer in agriculture, and bring joy and beauty to our lives. 


The need of the hour in Kashmir and other parts of the world is to protect and promote bird wealth.
