Kolkata is a historic city in India, known as the cultural capital of the country. As the capital of West Bengal, it has produced great minds like Rabindranath Tagore. Recently, I visited Kolkata to anchor the launch of the English language magazine, The Jazzbaat. The people of Kolkata and entire West Bengal are down-to-earth, respectful, and full of love.
The markets in Kolkata are highly attractive, and the cleanliness sense of the common people is excellent. One can find excellent places to visit, such as the iconic Victoria Memorial Museum and sites related to the historic freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Kolkata is also home to historic temples and churches that offer a blissful experience to visitors.
The city boasts great restaurants for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food lovers, serving amazing food. What sets Kolkata apart from other cities is its affordability; even on a limited budget, one can enjoy food and travel at low prices. Places like Maidan offer perfect settings for large gatherings, allowing people to enjoy the city's tranquility.
The sports infrastructure, especially the grounds, provides ample opportunities for children to play. From sweets to seafood, Kolkata is a dream come true for food lovers, and its great people make it an amazing city.
Without doubt Kolkata is a pristine cultural and historical hub, world over famous for its rich heritage, iconic landmarks, and vibrant traditions, contributing significantly to India's cultural, intellectual, and economic landscape.
