Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has publicly praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, declaring that he faces not a single corruption case and hailing him as an example of clean governance. Speaking at a rally in Vaishali as the election campaign heats up, Singh asserted that only the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is positioned to propel Bihar towards the status of a "viksit," or developed, state.
Singh contrasted Nitish Kumar’s record with promises made by the opposition INDIA bloc, casting doubt on their claim of providing government jobs for one member of every family if voted to power. He challenged where the resources for such sweeping employment pledges would come from, labeling them misleading and unattainable.
He highlighted that during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime, the central government allocated only ₹2 lakh crore for Bihar. In contrast, the current Modi-led government has released as much as ₹15 lakh crore over the past ten years. He presented this disparity as clear evidence of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) strong commitment to the development of Bihar. Singh urged voters to reject the "jungle raj" that plagued the state in previous years and instead support the NDA’s vision for sustained growth and stability.
Singh also highlighted the broader achievements of the Modi government, noting India’s economic ascent from the eleventh to the fifth position globally, with ambitions to soon reach third place. He called on citizens to vote with trust in the NDA’s record of delivering on promises, contrasting it sharply with what he described as the chaos and lawlessness of earlier eras in Bihar.
The defence minister’s statements come amid intense campaigning, with NDA leaders positioning Nitish’s government as a beacon of corruption-free administration and development. Meanwhile, critics from opposition parties, including Congress and RJD, have questioned the sincerity of NDA’s promises and Nitish Kumar’s future as chief minister if the alliance regains power.
Singh emphasized that the NDA stands for both economic progress and social stability, linking Bihar’s development with broader national ambitions. He closed his rally urging voters to choose progress and transparency over empty promises and instability.
