Katrina Kaif is an unbeatable name in contemporary Bollywood. She has impressed the audience as well as the critics innumerable times for her glamour, acting and excellent dancing. Nevertheless, her journey to this position was not smooth. Katrina, in a recent interview, remembered a painful instance from the initial days of her career, after learning which many are viewing her differently now.
Katrina was merely 17 years old at that point. There was a shooting of a dance song on a beach. A young girl new to Bollywood. Her body language was not yet professional, she was in the process of making herself conversant in front of the camera. And suddenly, the choreographer working on the shooting floor began mocking her out loud.
As Katrina herself says, "That day choreographer was intentionally talking loudly so that I could hear. He was telling me, 'This girl can't dance at all. My work is getting hampered due to this.'" That day's insult could have destroyed many actresses for life. But Katrina didn't shatter.
She added, "I made up my mind that I would respond to these words without speaking to anybody. I kept telling myself that one day I will dance so well that everyone will say - yes, this girl can. Nobody may have believed me at that time, but I knew that I could." And sure enough, she did.
One by one, superhit dance numbers like 'Chikni Chameli', 'Sheela Ki Jawani', 'Mashalla', 'Kaala Chashma' have made Katrina one of the top-notch dancers in Bollywood. Nowadays, even her choreographers can be shocked to find out how the "initially unpromising" Katrina has turned into such a big name among dancers today.
But it is not merely hard work, Katrina's story demonstrates the significance of self-confidence and patience. She never proceeded with the attitude of revenge but enhanced her competence and worked in silence to build her own niche. She might still recall the embarrassment she faced when she was a teenager, but she has converted it into an incentive.
As her profession has evolved, as has her personal life. Nowadays, Katrina Kaif is married. Her husband Vicky Kaushal is a very popular and fine actor in Bollywood. She has gained appreciation from the audience and critics alike with the film 'Chhaba'. Just as the life of this star pair is going nicely in their personal life, their professional life is also at a new milestone.
But Katrina has not been spotted much on screen since her wedding. Whereas Alia Bhatt is occupied with more than one film even after becoming a mother, Katrina has gone on a break. She has some important projects on her table, but at present, nobody knows when she will be back on the big screen. Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif - two of Bollywood's most beautiful dames who are in the back seat currently. But their performance and fame are so long-lasting that it is no surprise that when they come back, the cinemas will be houseful.
This whole tale is such an inspirational lesson. Where a 17-year-old girl did not get disappointed in the face of derogatory comments and retaliated against all the sarcasm with her talent. Katrina's journey teaches us - criticism will never cease, if the destination is good and the confidence does not drop.
