Popular Bollywood and South Indian actress Kajal Aggarwal is all set to play an important role in Nitesh Tiwari's much-awaited film 'Ramayan'. According to reliable sources, she is playing the role of Mandodari, the wife of Ravana, in this epic two-part film. 'KGF' fame Yash will be seen in the role of Ravana.
Earlier, Sakshi Tanwar's name was mentioned for the role of Mandodari, but according to the latest update, Kajal Aggarwal's name has been finalized. A production source said, "Kajal participated in the look test last week and has already started shooting. Currently, the shooting of the Lanka portion is going on."
The character of Mandodari is very important in Ramayan. She was the daughter of Mayasur and Apsara Hema and the wife of Ravana. Her character reflects intelligence, morality and devotion. She always advised Ravana to follow the right path.
According to the producer, an established actress was needed for the role of Mandodari, who could portray the depth of the character. Kajol's equal popularity in Bollywood and South Indian films makes her a perfect fit for the role.
Co-produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the first part of this film will be released in Diwali 2026, while the second part will come in Diwali 2027. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravi Dubey as Laxman. The VFX of the film is being handled by Oscar-winning studio DNEG, so the audience is expecting an epic visual experience.
