April 29, 2025 | Lucknow

Samajwadi Party leader and ex-U.P. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has condemned the BJP-led central government vehemently following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The terror attack, which occurred last week, left several dead and many others injured.

Talking to media persons in Lucknow, Yadav said the government has to own the responsibility for the failure of security. "Changing statements will not change the truth," he said. "The public is entitled to know what actually transpired and why appropriate safety arrangements were not in place."

Yadav further added that it is shameful the way the government is attempting to blame others rather than owning up to its faults. "Whenever there is an attack, the government provides different accounts. This bewilders people and conceals the actual problem — that our country's security mechanism is not working efficiently," he added.

Attack in Pahalgam

The Pahalgam attack stunned the whole country. Reports said terrorists had fired on a batch of tourists and local laborers. Security forces acted fast, but the damage was already done. Investigations are still under way, and no group has taken responsibility so far.

Witnesses described having seen hardly any police around at the time the attack took place. Many are questioning why the government did not beef up security in such a volatile area, particularly at a time when the country was expecting tourists.

Opposition Demands Answers

Other opposition parties have also spoken up following the attack. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commented, "People are dying, and the government is just engaged in issuing statements. We want a proper investigation and a clear report of what went wrong."

Aam Aadmi Party and Trinamool Congress leaders have also asked the Home Ministry to explain the security lapse and take stringent action to ensure such attacks do not occur in the future.

Public Reaction

Most citizens took to Twitter and Facebook to vent their anger and grief. #PahalgamAttack and #SecurityFailure became the most popular hashtags on Twitter soon after the news was announced. Citizens are demanding justice for the dead and improved safety protocols in all sensitive zones.

Final Words by Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Yadav concluded his statement by stating that the government should keep the safety of the people its top priority. "Playing games with words won't restore the lives we lost. The truth will always reveal itself, however hard they may try to cover it up," he stated.
