Rudraprayag, May 1,2025
Before the traditional opening of the Kedarnath Temple on May 2 every year, the sacred Himalayan shrine is being richly ornamented with approximately 13 quintals (1.3 tonnes) of colored flowers. The flower ornament, such as marigolds, roses, and other seasonal blooms, is part of the traditional ornamentation of the temple to welcome devotees for the pilgrimage season.
Uttarakhand administration and temple authority have arranged this grand beautification to gain maximum spiritual ambience and to celebrate the onset of the Char Dham Yatra. The temple, which belongs to Lord Shiva, is highly sacred in significance and hosts thousands of followers annually.
Preparations are underway, with workers carefully setting the flowers to adorn the outside and perimeter of the temple. The district administration has also established safety and convenience arrangements for pilgrims, including crowd management and emergency services.
The Kedarnath Temple, situated in the Garhwal Himalayas, is closed during the cold winter season and reopens annually towards the end of April or early May. The floral decoration symbolizes a fresh beginning and the firm commitment of the faithful.
With the opening of the temple gates, the vibrant floral decoration acts as a testimony to the rich cultural heritage and religious fervor that define the region.
