48-Hour Advisory for Bihar Government: Kishor on BPSC Protest
Prashant Kishor, who has changed from political strategist to activist, has given a clear-cut 48-hour ultimatum to the Bihar government to resolve the ongoing protests started by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants due to allegations of irregularities in examination processes as a thousand aspirants were left frustrated and raised voiced agitations against the administration.
Kishor charged the Nitish Kumar-spawned government with failure in fairness and transparency vis-a-vis public examinations, though it is dark in the aspirations of youth. "Student politics should empower, not be exploited for political mileage," he said.
His remarks ignited another round of the perennial debate on the politics of student protest in Bihar. To many, it becomes more of a benchmark toward setting a critique of the continued government handling of youth issues.
While the government is silent on Kishor's ultimatum, opposition leaders stood their ground in support of his position, urging action to be immediate for credibility restoration to BPSC and redress for the died-in protest students.
The latest extension seeks to intensify the urgency of the matter with the government under pressure to prove its case before the people regarding transparency and accountability. As the countdown goes on, everyone's eyes are set on Bihar, waiting for a settlement that can set the tone for future interactions of student movements with state authorities.
