China Confirms Troop Disengagement in Galwan Valley After Jaishankar's '75%' Remark

In a significant development, China has confirmed that its troops have disengaged from four key friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including the strategic Galwan Valley. This announcement comes shortly after Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that 75% of the ongoing border tensions between the two nations had been resolved.

The Galwan Valley, which was the site of violent clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in June 2020, holds immense strategic importance for both countries. The disengagement at this location is being viewed as a positive step towards reducing tensions that have simmered since the deadly skirmish.

According to sources, apart from Galwan, Chinese troops have pulled back from three other points along the LAC, further easing the military standoff that has plagued the region for over two years. Both India and China have been engaged in a series of military and diplomatic talks aimed at resolving the border crisis.

Minister Jaishankar’s recent statement, which emphasized that 75% of the border disputes had been addressed, appears to have laid the groundwork for further disengagement, as China now confirms withdrawal in these critical areas.

This disengagement signals hope for long-term peace, though experts caution that full resolution is still pending in other contentious zones. Both sides are expected to continue dialogue to secure a lasting agreement.
