Delhi Gets a Speed Boost
The much-awaited Anand Vihar Flyover was inaugurated today by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, aiming to significantly reduce traffic congestion in one of the city's busiest corridors.
Speaking at the event, CM Atishi highlighted the flyover as a game-changer for commuters traveling between East Delhi and the Ghaziabad border. “This project demonstrates our commitment to improving public infrastructure and easing the daily struggles of Delhi’s citizens,” she said, emphasizing her government’s focus on sustainable urban development.
The flyover, constructed within a record timeline of two years, is expected to handle over 50,000 vehicles daily. Local residents and commuters have lauded the initiative, anticipating shorter travel times and reduced pollution caused by traffic jams.
However, critics argue that the flyover is only a temporary fix for Delhi’s deeper infrastructure and urban planning challenges. Environmentalists have pointed out that adding more roads may encourage increased vehicular usage, exacerbating air quality concerns. “What about long-term solutions like strengthening public transport?” asked a resident of Anand Vihar.
Despite the concerns, the inauguration was met with applause, with many hopeful that the new development will bring much-needed relief to daily commuters.
