Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai supported cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin’s statement that Hindi is not India's national language.
Speaking at an event, Annamalai said, “Correct. It is not our national language, which I have also been saying. My dear friend Ashwin has reiterated the truth. Hindi is not the national language; it is merely a link language and a language of convenience.”
Earlier on Thursday, former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin made a strong statement as the chief guest at a college event in Tamil Nadu, saying, Hindi is not the national language of India but merely an official language.
He made these comments while attending the convocation ceremony of a private college.
During the event, Ashwin asked the students which language they preferred for his address.
Ravichandran Ashwin says, "...I thought I'd say it all. It's (Hindi) not our national language; It's an official language. Okay, anyway"
