Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders protest against Gautam Adani; Kiren Rijiju calls their actions 'immature,' triggering sharp reactions from opposition, highlighting Adani issue’s political sensitivity.
Rijiju's 'Balak Buddhi' Remark Sparks Controversy
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stirred political controversy with his “Balak Buddhi” comment aimed at Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders protesting against industrialist Gautam Adani. The comment, implying childishness, came after Congress staged a high-profile demonstration demanding accountability for alleged irregularities linked to Adani's business dealings.
The protests saw Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders marching on the streets, raising slogans, and alleging undue favoritism towards Adani by the central government. Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of “protecting crony capitalism” at the expense of transparency and fairness.
Rijiju’s response came swiftly, dismissing the protests as a political gimmick. “This is nothing but Balak Buddhi (childish behavior),” Rijiju remarked, asserting that Congress was attempting to divert attention from their failures by targeting Adani. His statement, however, triggered backlash from Congress, who accused him of belittling serious issues of public interest.
Political observers noted that the clash underscores the deepening divide between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, particularly on issues of economic governance and corporate favoritism. While BJP maintains Adani’s operations are lawful and beneficial for the economy, Congress insists on a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The Adani controversy, which has repeatedly surfaced in parliamentary debates and public protests, continues to serve as a rallying point for opposition unity. Rijiju’s remarks, though aimed at deflecting criticism, have only reignited debates about corporate accountability and government transparency.
As the political temperature rises, the Adani issue seems poised to dominate the national discourse in the coming weeks.
