After 60 hours of search, a 31-year-old from Durg in Chhattisgarh has been arrested in connection with the attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence yesterday.

According to a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official “as per information from Mumbai Police, one suspect has been arrested at Durg today afternoon”.

He was on Jnaneswari Express which runs from Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Kolkata Shalimar (SHM) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It departs from LTT at 8.35 pm and arrives at SHM at 4.35 am.

Mumbai police sources said they got a person who had boarded the train and shared his photo with RPF. On this basis, the RPF in Chhattisgarh arrested a person who was traveling in a general coach.

After this, a team from Mumbai police reached Chhattisgarh by air and took his custody. Police and RPF are questioning him together.

Yesterday police in Mumbai arrested a person who looked like the suspect but it was a false lead.

So far it has been found that after being seen at Lucky Junction area in Bandra, the accused boarded a local train, traveled to Dadar, purchased a mobile phone cover from a shop near platform 1 of Dadar (West) railway station, and then headed towards Kabutarkhana.

His movement was captured on CCTV camera of the mobile shop at 9.04 am, sources said. Police will record a statement from the person who sold the phone cover to the accused.

One more source said four dozen teams are searching in different parts of the city, including Dadar, Worli-Prabhadevi, Byculla, Churchgate, and Cuffe Parade.

Yesterday morning between 2 am to 2:30 am the man entered Khan’s 11th-floor apartment, injured the nanny, and then attacked Khan with a knife six times and escaped.
