Shah, Doval Strategize with Police Chiefs in Odisha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval attended the DGP/IGP conference in Bhubaneswar, focusing on strengthening law enforcement and counter-terrorism strategies.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval joined top police officials from across India at the DGP/IGP conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The high-profile event aimed to deliberate on critical security concerns, including counter-terrorism, border security, and cyber threats.

The meeting comes amid rising concerns about cross-border infiltration and the internal law-and-order situation in several states. With Shah leading the discussions, the conference emphasized modernizing police forces and utilizing advanced technology for surveillance and investigation.

Ajit Doval, known for his strategic acumen, reportedly stressed the need for enhanced coordination between state and central law enforcement agencies. The discussions also touched upon the importance of strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms to counter emerging threats effectively.

Odisha's selection as the venue was seen as symbolic, reflecting the government’s focus on eastern and northeastern states' unique security challenges. Sources indicate that Shah called for a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and extremism, urging states to act decisively against elements threatening national unity.

The conference highlighted how technology could be both a challenge and an opportunity in policing. Cybersecurity, especially the misuse of social media for radicalization and fake news dissemination, was a key topic of discussion.

With the presence of Shah and Doval, the event underscored the Centre's commitment to proactive security measures. Analysts believe this meeting sets the stage for a more robust and unified approach to law enforcement across the country.
