Teens in MP Face Action Over Religious Slogan Row

In Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, two teenagers were booked after allegations emerged that they forced minors to chant a specific religious slogan. The incident, which occurred during a local gathering, has reignited concerns over rising communal tensions and the exploitation of children in politically charged situations.

According to police, the minors’ parents filed a complaint, alleging coercion. Local authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice Act. The accused teens have denied the allegations, claiming the incident was blown out of proportion.

The situation has sparked widespread debate, with community leaders calling for restraint and accountability. While some argue that the case is a symptom of increasing polarization in society, others see it as an isolated event.

Human rights activists have criticized the misuse of religion to manipulate impressionable young minds. “Children should never be dragged into political or religious conflicts. This sets a dangerous precedent,” said advocate Priya Sinha, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of child protection laws.

Meanwhile, local authorities are urging calm, ensuring that the investigation proceeds impartially. The incident also highlights the urgent need for sensitization programs in schools to foster interfaith harmony and prevent such occurrences.

As political and social debates intensify, the focus must remain on safeguarding the innocence and dignity of children, ensuring that they grow up in an environment free from coercion and fear.
