*April 24* : As a part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug menace in society, kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler at Qazigund, Kulgam and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
A Police team from Police station Qazigund set up a checkpoint at Levdoora crossing NHW and intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration number JK02BK-8707 for checking. After search, Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered. The person (driver) identified as *Sardar Chand, son of Deena Nath, a resident of Samba Manan, Jammu* was arrested on spot and vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized.
Accordingly, a case has been registered under FIR No. 67/2025 under section 8/15 NDPS act at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigation is underway.
The community is urged to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their areas. Those involved in drug trafficking will be dealt strictly according to the law. Our continued actions against drug peddlers aim to reassure the Public that we are committed to keeping our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
