As the joyous festival of Durga Puja approaches this year, a renewed enthusiasm among tourists to visit Kashmir is clearly emerging. Long celebrated as a dream destination, Kashmir is gradually reclaiming its charm. Although the recent tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam dealt a severe blow to the region’s tourism industry, the government and tourism-related organizations are now resolutely working to revive this beautiful land and make it attractive once again to visitors.

Following last year’s attack, many tourists canceled their travel plans, severely impacting the livelihoods of hotel owners, local shikara boatmen, artisans, and others dependent on tourism. However, the situation is slowly improving. Both central and state governments have come together to implement a comprehensive initiative called “Vision 2025,” which focuses on upgrading tourism infrastructure, enhancing security measures, and organizing cultural festivals to reestablish Kashmir as a prime destination for tourists.

West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also taken an active role in these efforts. After meeting with key leaders from Kashmir, she announced her plan to visit the region after Durga Puja. She emphasized, “It’s time to dispel people’s fears about Kashmir. Kashmir remains beautiful and safe a place where anyone can travel peacefully.” This message has reignited hope among prospective travelers.

Various tourism organizations and travel agencies have launched special campaigns, demanding the resumption of direct flights from Kolkata and introducing special tour packages to facilitate easy and comfortable access to Kashmir. Bookings have already begun to rise, indicating a growing interest among tourists once again.

Authorities have strengthened security measures for visitors by opening new help desks, introducing pre-registration facilities, and reopening key tourist spots. These efforts are expected to make travel to Kashmir safer and more enjoyable.

With proper planning and social awareness, Kashmir is poised to reclaim its position as one of India’s top tourist destinations during Durga Puja. Visitors will experience the breathtaking natural beauty, serene mountains and rivers, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality that Kashmir offers. Moreover, this tourism revival will breathe new life into the region’s economy, safeguarding the livelihoods of thousands.

Tourists are urged to travel safely and responsibly, adhering to necessary precautions and government guidelines. May this Durga Puja Kashmir journey not only bring joy but also stand as a symbol of peace and stability in the country.
