Ramban, July 5: At least 25 pilgrims participating in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra sustained injuries on Saturday when four buses in the Pahalgam-bound convoy collided near the Chanderkote langar site in Ramban district.

According to officials, the mishap occurred after the driver of one of the buses reportedly lost control due to a brake failure, resulting in a chain collision involving three other buses in the convoy.

All 25 injured pilgrims were swiftly evacuated to District Hospital Ramban, where they received prompt medical attention. Most of the injuries were reported to be minor.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Ilyas Khan, who visited the hospital to take stock of the situation, confirmed that 20 to 25 yatris were injured in the incident. “Due to a brake failure, four vehicles collided with each other. Most of the injuries are minor, and those affected are being discharged after receiving first aid,” he said.

DC Khan also assured that alternate arrangements were being made to ensure the continuation of the pilgrimage. “We have arranged replacement buses for the yatris. Those discharged from the hospital will also be accommodated and allowed to continue their yatra,” he added.

Rescue teams from the police and health department responded swiftly, ensuring timely evacuation and medical care. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
