9-Year-Old Girl Injured in Snake Bite in Kulgam, Referred to SKIMS Srinagar

Kulgam, July 19, 2025: A 9-year-old girl sustained injuries after being bitten by a snake in the Motigan Nihama area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.

According to her family, the minor was in her orchard when the incident occurred. She was immediately rushed to a nearby health facility, where she received initial medical attention.

Due to the nature of the bite, doctors referred her to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, for specialized treatment. Officials confirmed that her condition is currently stable.

Meanwhile, the incident has triggered concern among locals, who have called on the authorities to take urgent steps to control the increasing presence of snakes in the area.
