The airfare from and to Kashmir especially during the peak tourist season used to sky rocket and sometimes getting even costlier than Dubai and Bangkok.

At peak of tourist season in recent years one could even see airfares from Delhi, Mumbai to Kashmir in bracket of 20 to 30 k but post the dastardly terror attack of Pahalgam the airfares have witnessed massive drop as tourism has virtually collapsed.

Expert pulse is pained that the cost of air travel to Kashmir, once deemed unaffordable for many, has witnessed a dramatic fall over the last few weeks. Currently, a one-way air ticket from Delhi to Srinagar is being sold for as low as ₹3,200 to ₹4,600, while a flight from Mumbai to Srinagar, which earlier touched a staggering price in range of 30k, is now available for 5 to 6 k.

This sharp decline in airfares is a grim reminder of painful tragedy   the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of innocent tourists and led to a perceptible drop in the number of tourists visiting the Valley.

Although many buisness associations used to stress low airfares in past considering their skyrocketing nature but current fall is painful as it symbolises the massive blow the Pahalgam tragedy has had on tourism in Kashmir.
