Kulgam, July 16: The Indian Army on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to Rifleman Rouf Gull, who tragically lost his life in a fatal road accident near Awantipora. The accident took place on National Highway 44 near Dangerpora Padgampora and claimed three lives, including two siblings, while leaving two others critically injured. The injured are currently receiving treatment at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.
Rifleman Rouf Gull, a brave and dedicated soldier, was among the deceased in the tragic mishap. In a solemn gesture of respect and remembrance, the Army organized a wreath-laying ceremony in his native village of Dardegund in the Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The ceremony was jointly conducted by personnel from the 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 9 RR units, who gathered to honour their fallen comrade. Floral tributes were offered as officers and jawans stood in silent homage, saluting the soldier whose life was cut short in the line of service.
The emotional gathering was also attended by family members, villagers, and fellow servicemen, who paid their respects and remembered Rouf Gull for his unwavering dedication and service to the nation. The tribute stood as a powerful testament to the bond shared between the Indian Army and the communities it serves, as well as the deep sense of loss felt across all ranks.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to support the bereaved family during this difficult time, acknowledging the supreme sacrifice made by Rifleman Rouf Gull in service of the country.
