KULGAM, JUNE 26:

To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Social Welfare Department Kulgam, in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Office, today organised a large-scale awareness rally aimed at educating the public, especially the youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society.

The rally was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Vikar Ahmad Giri, from the Sports Stadium Kulgam, and concluded at Chawalgam Bypass. It witnessed vibrant participation from students, teachers, volunteers, and officials, who carried placards and banners with powerful messages and raised slogans against drug abuse.

The event sought to raise awareness, instill a sense of social responsibility, and encourage collective community action to counter the rising challenge of drug addiction. Participants emphasized the need for preventive education, strong rehabilitation infrastructure, and continuous awareness campaigns to fight the menace effectively.

Officials from the organising departments addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the day and reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free future.

SHO Kulgam, Neeraj Badyal, and his team ensured smooth traffic regulation and safety throughout the rally, enabling its successful and peaceful conduct.

The rally was well-received and hailed as an important step towards mobilizing community efforts in the ongoing fight against drug abuse.
