Kulgam | June 11, 2025 — In a significant political event marking over a decade of transformative governance, BJP Senior Leader and Jammu & Kashmir Spokesperson Altaf Thakur addressed a press conference at the Rest House in Chawalgam, Kulgam, to commemorate the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre.
Speaking under the banner of “11 Years of Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan”, Thakur hailed the achievements of the BJP government, stating that the past eleven years have been a “historic journey of progress, empowerment, and inclusive development” for India, including Jammu & Kashmir.
Key Highlights of the Address:
Development & Infrastructure: Thakur noted that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Kashmir has witnessed “unprecedented development,” including improved road connectivity, healthcare, education, and infrastructure growth in even the most remote areas.
Empowerment & Inclusion: The BJP leader emphasized how schemes like Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana have empowered the poor and marginalized, directly benefiting thousands of families in South Kashmir.
Restoration of Peace & Normalcy: Altaf Thakur highlighted the government’s success in restoring peace in the Valley post the abrogation of Article 370, stating, “Tourism is thriving, youth are choosing laptops over stones, and the region is moving towards a peaceful and prosperous future.”
Youth & Employment: He stressed the government's focus on youth engagement through entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and skill development programs, ensuring that the young generation of Jammu & Kashmir is aligned with the national growth story.
Thakur called upon local residents, especially the youth, to become stakeholders in this era of transformation and to “strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi” for a stronger and more prosperous India.
The press conference concluded with a Q&A session where Thakur addressed concerns ranging from local governance to employment, and reiterated BJP’s commitment to the holistic development of Jammu & Kashmir.
