Bovine Theft Foiled, Accused Apprehended by Handwara Police

Handwara, July 5, 2025:


In a swift and effective action, Handwara Police on July 4, 2025, at around 22:30 hours, intercepted a suspected individual involved in bovine theft at Mawer Crossing.


A police party from Police Station Qalamabad, while on night patrolling duty, noticed a person moving suspiciously with bovines near Mawer Crossing. Upon seeing the police, the individual attempted to flee the spot but was tactfully apprehended by the alert police team.


During the preliminary questioning, the accused identified himself as Mohd Ismaiel Badana, son of Gulam ud Din, resident of Lahikote Monabal. During initial  investigation, it came forth that the said suspect individual had stolen the bovines from the Puthwari Nowgam area and was en route towards Qalamabad with the intent to sell them illegally.


Accordingly, FIR No. 20/2025 under Section 303(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Qalamabad, and further investigation is underway.
