BSF Foils Major Infiltration in Samba, Kills 7 Pakistani Terrorists

The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a massive infiltration bid across the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district during the night of May 8-9, 2025, eliminating a minimum of seven Pakistani terrorists. The infiltration attempt, discovered by the BSF's surveillance network around 11 pm, was also strongly supported by the Pakistan Rangers, who opened small arms fire from the Dhandhar post to assist the terrorists in reaching Indian territory.

The moment the group of terrorists-purported to be members of Jaish-e-Mohammed-were detected, BSF personnel opened accurate fire, eliminating all seven intruders.

The action also caused huge damage to the Pakistani Dhandhar post from where the intruding was being aided. No Indian casualties were reported.

This episode is in the wake of increased India-Pakistan tensions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which left 26 dead, and India's Operation Sindoor, which attacked terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The last 48 hours have witnessed several ceasefire violations, drone and missile strikes, and retaliatory fire across the border.

The BSF continues to be on high alert at the western front, ready to pre-empt further attempts at infiltration as Pakistan keeps ratcheting up cross-border fire.

The Samba operation is being interpreted as a big shot across Pakistan's bow against its continued efforts to employ terror as an instrument under cover of military build-up.
