Burglars Loot Donation Box at Khanqah of Hazrat Syed Hassan Simnani in Kulgam; Incident Caught on CCTV

Kulgam, July 8: In a shocking incident, unidentified burglars looted a donation box at the revered Khanqah of Hazrat Syed Hassan Simnani (RA) in Kulgam town during the early hours of Monday. The theft occurred at around 12:40 AM and was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the shrine.


According to local sources, the footage reveals masked individuals forcibly entering the shrine premises and breaking open the donation box before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.


A police official confirmed that a case has been registered and investigations are underway. “We have obtained the CCTV footage and are working to identify the culprits. Strict action will be taken against those involved,” the official stated.


Authorities have assured that security around religious sites in the district will be strengthened to prevent such incidents in the future.


Speaking to the media, the President of the Waqf Board said, “The incident took place during the early morning hours. We have submitted a formal complaint at Police Station Kulgam and urge authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.”


The Khanqah of Hazrat Syed Hassan Simnani (RA) is one of the most venerated spiritual shrines in South Kashmir, attracting devotees from across the region. The incident has left locals shocked and saddened, with many demanding swift action and better security arrangements at religious sites.
