The export of Cherries from Kashmir to other parts of country through rail is a great news. 


In a landmark development for the first time ever, Railways on 31 May, 2025 ferried 24 tonnes of cherries from Kashmir to Mumbai via Katra railway station. The move has brought smiles to cherry growers in Kashmir, whose produce will now reach Mumbai in just 33 hours. Earlier, it took six to seven days by road to transport cherries to Mumbai.


More such deliveries through train of crucial Kashmir horticulture produce are expected now.


This is definitely a historic development for our horticulture produce as this will be game changer for us .


The cherry farmers are delighted with this development as it will ensure full market potential to their product and taste of Kashmiri chery would be felt in different cities of country.
