Srinagar, May 10: In a compassionate response to the recent surge in civilian casualties, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, leading the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC),announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who have lost their lives.

Describing the move as a gesture of support and solidarity, the JKNC shared the announcement via a post on X. The party stated, “While no compensation can ever replace a loved one or heal the trauma caused to the family, as a gesture of support and solidarity, JKNC Government led by Honourable Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announces ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh to be provided to families of all who have deceased.”

The relief announcement comes in the wake of intensified cross-border shelling and attacks that have resulted in a number of civilian deaths across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reiterating its commitment to the welfare of the people, the JKNC emphasized that it stands firmly with the bereaved families in these trying times and pledged to extend every possible assistance to those affected.
