Crackdown on Drug Peddling Continues in Kulgam, One More Arrested

Kulgam, May 30, 2025: Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug peddlers, Kulgam Police on Thursday arrested another individual and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from his possession.

A police party from Police Station Qaimoh had established a naka checkpoint at the Khudwani Bypass for routine checking and frisking of suspicious individuals and vehicles. During the operation, a person identified as Akash Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Guree, Bijbehara, was found moving under suspicious circumstances and was intercepted.

Upon personal search, 1.547 kilograms of Charas and cash amounting to ₹2,000, believed to be proceeds from narcotics trade, were recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot.

In connection with the incident, a case has been registered under FIR No. 38/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Qaimoh. Further investigation is underway.

Police officials emphasized that drug peddlers are actively working to destroy lives, particularly targeting the youth by spreading drugs in the community. The general public is once again urged to cooperate with Kulgam Police in its ongoing fight against the drug menace.
