KULGAM, MAY 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), along with Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today jointly chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress and implementation status of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.
During the meeting, it was informed that out of 203 approved works under JJM in Kulgam, 108 have been completed, while the remaining projects are at various stages of execution.
Executive Engineers and concerned officials were directed to ensure the time-bound completion of all pending schemes, with strict adherence to quality standards. The Mission Director stressed the importance of real-time monitoring and transparency, instructing officers to promptly upload project data on the Gati Shakti Portal.
Reviewing the status of Rapid Sand Filtration Plants (RSFPs), the officers directed KPDCL to ensure that all pending power connections are completed within a week to facilitate their commissioning.
Further, field functionaries and project staff were directed to conduct regular inspections of ongoing works to ensure timely execution and accountability on the ground.
The Executive Engineer (Water Quality) was instructed to expedite water quality testing in all schools, Anganwadi centres, and individual households. Emphasizing community involvement, it was directed that at least five women from each village’s Pani Samiti be trained in water quality testing to promote grassroots-level monitoring.
The Chief Chemist was also directed to oversee water testing as per the revised protocols, ensuring safe and clean drinking water to all.
The meeting was attended by SE Hydraulic, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Executive Engineers, AEEs, JEs, and other concerned officers.
