DC Kulgam reviews implementation status of Jal Shakti Abhiyan,Catch the Rain 2025,

KULGAM,APRIL,30:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), today convened a meeting of officers at the Mini Secretariat to review the progress of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan – Catch the Rain (JSA-CTR) 2025 campaign in the district.


The meeting featured a detailed discussion on ongoing initiatives, existing challenges, and future strategies for effective water conservation and management.


Emphasizing the importance of rainwater harvesting in ensuring sustainable water resources, the DC urged all departments to accelerate efforts under the campaign. He highlighted the need for inter-departmental coordination to fast-track the implementation of JSA-CTR projects.


Officers from the Rural Development, Forest, Agriculture, Irrigation, Jal Shakti, and other departments apprised the chair of the status of various water conservation initiatives.


To strengthen community participation, the DC directed officials to involve NGOs, Pani Samitis, and other local stakeholders. 


He also issued instructions for the construction of at least five rainwater harvesting structures in every Panchayat to enhance rainwater storage and groundwater recharge.


Additionally, the DC stressed the importance of regular cleaning and maintenance of water bodies to ensure their long-term sustainability.


The meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats (ACP), Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Executive Engineers, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chief Agriculture Officer, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, and other concerned officers.
