KULGAM, JUNE 16: As part of the ongoing fortnight-long campaign under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, the District Administration Kulgam today organized a mega awareness camp at the New Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Kulgam.
The event was presided over by District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Mohammad Afzal Parray, along with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), and saw enthusiastic participation from tribal communities and local officials.
In his address, DDC Chairperson Mohammad Afzal Parray emphasized that the initiative is aimed at bridging the developmental gap in tribal areas and ensuring that tribal populations benefit fully from government welfare schemes. He stressed the importance of preserving tribal culture and called for joint efforts to bring about real change on the ground.
Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) highlighted the Abhiyan’s focus on inclusive development and scheme saturation in tribal belts. He directed all concerned departments to intensify awareness drives and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. He also noted that the programme draws inspiration from the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda and aims to empower tribal communities through sustained developmental outreach.
DDC member from Manzgam, Jameela Chowdhury, praised the government’s continued focus on tribal upliftment and outlined the developmental strides made in tribal areas like Manzgam. She underlined the importance of such awareness camps in extending the reach of government schemes to the grassroots level.
Resource persons from various departments provided detailed briefings on welfare schemes and programmes tailored for tribal communities, equipping participants with the information needed to access available benefits.
The event witnessed active participation from Vice Chairperson DDC Kulgam, Shazia Jan; other DDC members; Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam; district and sectoral officers; and a large number of tribal residents.
